Bare Bones:

A group of thieves who don’t know each other, work together to carry out the most daring theft in history.

5 Seasons

43 Episodes

Episode Length 42 – 61 min.

ABT (Approx. Binge Time) – 34 hours

Overall Thoughts:

I'm a sucker for heist movies and I laugh (inside) when humans wear the same outfit, so I went in expecting to enjoy this show. Yet, the series takes heists to the next level, by gradually exploring the motivations behind each thief, members of the law enforcement crew, and the individual hostages, through revealing flashbacks. And, of course, there are many unexpected twists and turns that keep things moving! It’s like chasing a car and never actually catching it.

What Makes This Show Special:

First of all, I had to watch the opening credits each time I watched an episode, because I am addicted to the opening visuals and the theme song, Spanish singer Cecilia Krull's "My Life Is Going On“. Beyond that, I love the format the characters use to name themselves for the heist so that no one knows the identity of anyone else. And, wow, the thieves in Spain have such a deeper purpose in their work than Clooney does getting back at his ex's boyfriend.

Beware Of:

The original production is in Spanish, so the Netflix version in the U.S. has English voices dubbed in. With noise distractions I can miss an important line that is spoken softly, so I watched with the subtitles on. Doing this can be more distracting because the English words you hear and what you see in the English subtitles is often very different! Some times veeerry different!

For Dawg Eyes Only: OK, Dawg. This group of humans is fun to watch. They have trouble sensing why each of them want to steal from other humans, and then they let their negative emotions really complicate things. Watching Money Heist is like hanging my head out the car window.
